Foundation Update - May/June 2009
Message from Cherlyn L. Spencer
Executive Director, Alameda County Health Care Foundation
It is that time of year that the Foundation takes a breath and thinks of the many donors and organizations that have supported us this year. Our fiscal year ends June 30, 2009. We are still counting but have raised to date $1.5 million.
We are very appreciative of this mark because of the negative impact on the economy that has affected foundations and individual gifts making it more difficult this year, than any other year, to raise funds. Our patients at the Medical Center probably have experienced even more difficulty which it is why we continue to raise funds to ensure that they receive quality health care.

Boards of non-profit organizations are the lifeblood of their respective agencies. They provide the vision, oversight, and outreach into the community that every organization requires. The need for a strong, committed board of directors for the Alameda County Health Care Foundation is no different.
Bruce Bauer, Chair of the Alameda County Health Care Foundation, has again agreed to chair the Annual Golf Classic. This year the tournament is scheduled for Monday, September 21, at Sequoyah Country Club in Oakland.
Since its inception in 1980, The Clorox Company Foundation has focused on supporting programs that serve youth, kindergarten through 12th-grade education, cultural and civic organizations, local needs in plant communities and organizations in which Clorox employees are involved.
