Foundation Update - July/August 2009
Message from Cherlyn L. Spencer
Executive Director, Alameda County Health Care Foundation
The first quarter of the Foundation’s fiscal year (July 1-September 29) is almost ended. The Foundation is faced with tremendous challenges this year that requires the continued support of our hospital family and community support. The Medical Center is depending on the Foundation to successfully complete its Angiography Suite Acquisition Campaign. The campaign is comprised of two major components: construction and purchase of the Angiography equipment. The equipment is a non-invasive tool used by heart specialists and radiologists, respectively, for example, to determine if a patient requires a stent due to heart disease or to ascertain if there is extensive damage to the arteries due to diabetes. This campaign’s success is linked with the Foundation securing the balance of $760,000 to obtain a $1,000,000 challenge grant from a major foundation. We technically have until June 30, 2010 to reach our goal, but have developed an ambitious plan to complete the campaign before the end of year. To date we have raised $1.9 Million of a $2.6 Million Goal. As we now leave the quiet phase of the campaign, we are gearing up for our Community Campaign with a Kick-Off on September 23, 2009. We are very excited with our leadership and know we will be successful. Please look for ways you can become involved by visiting our website at www.achcf.org.
